2017 ESTATE PINOT NOIR

Made with the same approach as the Reserve wine, this wine is produced from a different selection of fruit parcels and barrel combinations.

The 2017 wines are distinctive for lovely perfume and purity of flavour from the cooler season, and this is no exception. It displays lifted raspberry aromas, with a hint of earthiness and subtle oak. The flavours combine full fruit with fine long tannins, finishing with the elegance and finesse that is the hallmark of TarraWarra Pinot Noir.

VINTAGE NOTES

2017 was a later and cooler year in the Yarra Valley. January and February brought perfect ripening conditions, with temperatures in the mid to high 20’s, and cool nights aiding retention of acid and fine flavor development. Yields were 7 tonnes per hectare.

SITE SELECTION

The fruit was picked from various blocks with vines aged between 21 and 33 years old, grown on high north facing slopes to maximize sunshine hours. Northerly winds from Long Gully provide good air flow and favourable micro-climates across the Estate.

REVIEWS

Immediately appealing with its core of juicy cherries and plums, earthy, warm spices offset by supple tannins and fresh acidity across its lighter frame. 2020 Halliday Wine Companion, Jane Faulkner, 93 Points

Here’s an easy to drink dark cherry style of pinot noir offering good weight of fruit. It’s not particularly complex, but that’s no problem in an early-drinking style.Winewise, Lester Jesberg
