Our Barbera has gone from strength to strength, consistently producing a wine that is full in flavour yet retaining its cool climate elegance. It is ideally suited to the Yarra Valley, producing wines with intensity and finesse. The variety is thriving in its location, yielding a wine that has quickly become one of our favourites.

2017 was an excellent vintage in the Yarra Valley. A cooler season delayed ripening, picking was 3 weeks behind 2016. A mild autumn allowed lovely flavor development with good balance. Cool nights and mild days gave perfect ripening conditions, with the fruit in perfect condition at harvest.

A long north-west facing block with clay loam soils. The block has long produced grapes with subtle flavours and firm structure which is well suited to this clone of Barbera and the preferred style for TarraWarra Estate.

Bold, bright purple/red colour, with a sweet blackberry, black cherry pastille aroma. It’s sweetly-fruited and intense, medium-bodied and charming with the potential to show more with a little more time. It’s quite a pretty wine that drinks well now. The Real Review, Huon Hooke

This hits the spot. Undeniably varietal with its blush of purple-red, cherry pips and just-ripe raspberries alongside newly made potpourri and plenty of warm spice. Medium-bodied with easy supple tannins and refreshing acidity. A beauty. 2020 Halliday Wine Companion, Jane Faulkner, 95 Points
