This is our second release of Nebbiolo from TarraWarra. It is ideally suited to the Yarra Valley and is thriving in its location, yielding a wine that has classic Nebbiolo perfume and structure. The wine has a bright garnet colour, aromas of roses, smoked meats and spice, while the palate has bright fruit driven home by characteristic Nebbiolo tannins. It will reward years of cellaring.
2015 was an excellent vintage in the Yarra Valley. A warmer season with cool nights produced ripe fruit flavours with strong tannins. Temperatures hovered in the low to mid-twenties from veraison to harvest. Cool nights and mild days gave optimum ripening conditions, with the fruit in perfect condition at harvest.
A long north-west facing block with clay loam soils. The block has long produced red varieties with full flavour and a firm tannin structure. The northerly aspect allows for ideal conditions for this late-ripening variety.
