This is our first release of Barbera from TarraWarra Estate. We chose this variety for its inherent structure and intense flavour. It is ideally suited to the Yarra Valley, and we are very excited by this first release. The variety is thriving in its location, yielding a wine that is full flavoured, rich and long.
2015 was an excellent vintage in the Yarra Valley. A warmer season produced ripe fruit flavours with good balance. Temperatures hovered in the mid to high twenties from veraison to harvest. Cool nights and mild days gave perfect ripening conditions, with the fruit in perfect condition at harvest.
A long north-west facing block with clay loam soils. The block has long produced grapes with subtle flavours and firm structure which is well suited to this clone of Barbera and the preferred style for TarraWarra Estate.
