Racked directly to barrel after whole-bunch pressing, the fruit batches from each block are kept entirely separate in barrel over the 10 months in oak. Some wild fermentation provided interesting aromas and texture to the final blend. A wine of fine complexity it displays lime and white peach aromas. The flavour is long and seamless on the palate with fruit that is tightly wound with minerality and lime zest. A wine to drink and enjoy now or cellar for 10 or more years.
The heritage blocks of B and C have a north-west aspect and represent a perfect site for Chardonnay. The two blocks have deep soils and a cool micro-climate. South Park is TarraWarra Estate’s only south facing vineyard. Planted with Mendoza clone, the longer ripening period helps to provide structure and fresh acidity to the Reserve wine blend.
Close to a perfect vintage, 2010 presented an ideal summer for grape development, with warm days and cool nights. Rainfall during mid-spring meant there was minimal irrigation required and next to no disease pressure.
